St. Mischa's College,
University of Oxford

St Mischa's Admissions Policy
St Mischa's college is committed to a policy of looking at all applications, and aims to do so with an open mind, treating them in the fairest possible way without any regard for irrelevancies such as race, gender, nationality, species, ethnic origin, sexuality, or intelligence. Our main concern is to choose candidates who will perform well in their course, respond well to the tutorial system, be able to afford the ridiculous cost of studying and living in Oxford, and who will enjoy and appreciate the wealth of opportunities - both intellectual and otherwise - which Oxford offers its students.

St Mischa's Admissions Office (01865 724 755) will be happy to answer any questions which you may have concerning admissions. However, all full students of the college are also members of the University of Oxford, and we must follow the twisty passages of procedures laid down by the University according to the type of course you wish to pursue. Both the procedures for Admissions and the course requirements are, of course, subject to change, and consequently are not described in detail in this prospectus. All potential candidates are strongly advised to consult the main University Prospectus before applying.

Procedure for Admissions
The procedures for Undergraduate Admission are described in the University of Oxford Undergraduate Prospectus (and in the online version). If you choose St Mischa's College, your application will be forwarded directly to us. A copy will be forwarded to six eminent Harley Street psychiatrists. Depending on your proposed course, we may ask you to submit some written work, according to the procedures described in the Undergraduate Prospectus. (page 666, paragraph B, subclause iv) Most applicants will be in the sixth form at school and studying for A-levels, with the exception of a few child prodigies who will still be in kindergarten. We are happy also to consider post A-level applications, and welcome candidates with other types of examinations such as the International Baccalaureate, GNVQs, HNCs, HGVs, HTMLs, Cycling Proficiency, and Scottish Highers. If you are taking A-levels the most likely conditional offer is AAB; for other examinations we will ask for equivalent grades.

We try to pass candidates round between colleges, so as to increase the chances of good applicants getting a place. It is possible you may have interviews, and be offered a place, at another college. Conversely, it is possible that we may be able to offer a place, even if your application shows a preference for another college. If you are interviewed at one college, you may be offered a place at another college, despite not having been interviewed there; you may be interviewed at thirty colleges and still not be offered a place. We aim to interview all candidates before midnight, and we do our best to ensure that candidates are notified of their interview dates at least 3 hours in advance. Candidates must remember, however, that applications received before November 1876 may receive preferential treatment.
